CAN Flag Football Starts Soon
We will once again be playing on the Ellipse and Washington Monument grounds on Saturdays and Sundays.  The games themselves won't get started until late September or early October, but we hope to start getting some practices and scrimmages going sometime next month.  It's always a lot of fun and we'd really like to get some new players out there this season.  Updates are forthcoming on the sports list.  E-mail Robert Deal  with any questions

* Please email
Matt Enderle for more information on Chapter Sports.

Are You Ready for Some Football?

CAST For Kids
Come Join Our Next Volunteer Event
The C.A.S.T for Kids Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides fishing and outdoor opportunities for children with special needs and the disadvantaged, will be holding its first-ever event in Virginia.  The event is scheduled--rain or shine--for Saturday, September 30, 2006, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at Pohick Bay Park in Fairfax County, Virginia.  Thirty children with special needs from many Northern Virginia communities, and their parents, have been invited and will be attending the event.  Volunteers are needed for a number of services during the event, and the alumni chapter has been looking into getting involved.  If you'd be interested in participating, or would like more information on the event, please contact Nina Presto

ASU Happy Hour
In July, local area alumni met in Porter's in DC for our latest ASU Happy Hour.  Happy hours allow alumni to gather for a drink, reminisce about the most recent CAN sports, and get excited about the upcoming football season. If you have an idea for the location of an upcoming happy hour, please contact
Matt Enderle.

CAN Softball
The CAN Softball season ended the weekend of August 6th with a heartbreaking loss to UNC in the 2nd round of the tournament.  Your DC Devils played strong against Baylor, but after a discouraging 1st inning against UNC, the team was unable to recover, even after a great 11-run rally.

Capital Scholars
Faster than it began, the summer for the Capital Scholars ended.  The Scholars leave with some great memories, including a great morning volunteering with ASU alumni at DC Central Kitchen and the annual Capital Hill Report.  The ASU alumni wish the students luck as they begin their new careers or finish their time at ASU.  Capital Scholars worked everywhere from the Washington Nationals to the US Supreme Court.  If you know of an ASU student who would like to be part of this great program, please contact
Jeremy Art, who will help you get all the information you need.
