TCU kicker Ross Evans is back at practice, though coach Gary Patterson isn’t sure yet if the team’s career scoring leader will play in the regular-season finale against UNLV on Saturday following his arrest. WSU fires Wulff after 9 wins in 4 years (AP)

Washington State football coach Paul Wulff was fired Tuesday after four years during which his teams won only nine games. “I appreciate all that Paul has done for Washington State football,” athletic director Bill Moos said in a statement announcing the firing. “He was hired with the objective of rebuilding this program and establishing a solid foundation.

Rick Neuheisel returned to UCLA determined to do everything correctly after a coaching career filled with big successes and equally big trouble. Even athletic director Dan Guerrero, who fired Neuheisel on Monday after four disappointing seasons, agreed the formerly scandal-plagued coach did most everything the right way at his alma mater.

Kansas fires Gill after 2 losing seasons (AP)

Turner Gill arrived at Kansas after taking a perennially downtrodden program at Buffalo to unimaginable heights. He’s leaving after a two-year stretch in which the Jayhawks slipped back to their familiar place in the Big 12 cellar. Gill was fired Sunday after a meeting with Athletic Director Sheahon Zenger, one day after the Jayhawks lost 24-10 to rival Missouri and finished the season 2-10.

Alabama safety Will Lowery is out for the season with a torn knee ligament. Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban said Sunday that Lowery has a torn ACL and will have surgery. Saban says Lowery “has been a very good player for us and an outstanding person in terms of his contributions to the team and the program.” Lowery was hurt Saturday against Georgia Southern.
